Watch Wyze Camera on PC (with 5 Different Ways)

Last updated on April 13th, 2024

The Wyze camera allows you to watch live feeds from the cams on your mobile app. You also have access to videos recorded because of motion triggers. To watch these videos on a small screen isn’t that feasible. You might miss certain important details. Viewing it on a larger screen is a good choice.

You can either opt for a tablet or a PC. Viewing on a tablet is easy, but how to watch it on your PC? In this article, we will cover different alternatives to watching a camera on a PC.

Viewing the Wyze camera on a MacBook or Chromebook is very easy as you can directly download the Wyze app for PC. But on a Windows device, you need to make a few adjustments. You can view the live camera view on a PC in one of the following ways.

  • Subscribe to Wyze Web View
  • Use the RTSP Protocol
  • Screencast your mobile to the PC
  • Use an Android Emulator

Let’s discuss these in more depth.

Ways to watch Wyze camera on PC

There are a total of 5 ways to watch Wyze camera on PC. Four of these allow you to view live feeds, while one doesn’t. You can only watch recorded videos in that case. Let’s discuss these ways one by one.

Wyze has now made it possible to access your account from a web browser. However, it is not accessible to those who have a Cam Plus or Cam Protect subscription. Those who don’t have a subscription can’t avail of this service. This is the only official way to view the camera on PC.

Step 1: Open a web browser on your PC.

Note: Wyze supports Chrome, Safari, and Microsoft Edge browsers, but Firefox is not supported at the time of writing this article.

Step 2: Type this website in the search bar:

Step 3: Login using your Wyze account details.

Step 4: Click on the ‘My Cameras’ option.

Step 5: Hover over any available live feed and click play.

You may now be able to view the feed from your cameras. But only certain devices are supported to view both the live feed and recorded videos. Which are those? RTSP is a standard protocol that allows you to send video between two endpoints. You can use this for streaming live video from your camera to your PC. This RTSP protocol is not readily available for your cam. You have to download and upload it to the camera. Here’s how to do it.

Step 1: Open either the Wyze Cam V2 RTSP file or the Wyze Cam RTSP file links to download the RTSP Protocol on your PC.

Step 2: Open the saved file and unzip it.

Step 3: Rename the unzipped file to ‘demo.bin’.

Step 4: Connect an SD card to the PC using a card reader.

Step 5: Copy the renamed file to this SD card and eject the card reader from your PC.

Step 6: Unplug your camera from the power source and insert the SD card in it to which you have copied the file.

Step 7: Locate the setup button and press and hold it. While pressing it, plug the power cord back into the power source.

Step 8: Release the setup button when the indicator light is blue.

Step 9: Wait for the camera to reboot, and once it does, you will be able to view the camera on the Wyze app.

Enabling RTSP protocol

You have successfully installed the RTSP protocol on your camera. Now, it’s time to enable it. The following steps will show you how to enable the RTSP protocol on your camera.

Step 1: Go to the ‘Settings’ menu and click on ‘Advanced Settings’.

Step 2: Scroll to the bottom of ‘Advanced Settings’ where you will find the ‘RTSP’ option. Click on it.

Step 3: Turn on the toggle switch beside RTSP.

Step 4: You will be prompted to create a login ID and password. Use a strong password.

Step 5: Once that is done, the app will create a URL that will look something like this: rtsp://user:Passwword@IPAddress/live

Live streaming the video

You can use this URL to stream live video from your camera to your PC. For that, you will need a VLC media player on your PC. Here’s how to stream live video and watch Wyze camera on PC using RTSP:

Step 1: Open VLC Media Player on your PC.

Step 2: Go to the ‘Media’ tab and select ‘Open Network Stream’.

Step 3: Copy the RTSP URL created by the app in the prompted box and click on ‘Play’.

The feed from your cam will automatically start playing on the screen. We know this is a lengthy and complicated process. But it is the safest way to stream live feeds without a Wyze subscription.

3: Android Emulator

You can use an Android Emulator to download the Wyze app on your PC. An Android Emulator creates an Android-like environment on your Windows PC so that it can tricked into believing it’s an Android Device. You can download an Emulator like BlueStacks or NoxPlayer from the web.
