Let’s demystify the facts and make an informed decision.

Which is better: Roomba i4+ vs. i7+?

The Roomba i7+ is a better choice due to its more promising navigation system and advanced mapping technology. It uses the iAdapt 3.0 navigation system, which is not present in the i4+. The Roomba i4+ uses an array of sensors to get around. It has a higher battery capacity and longer runtime than many of its counterparts. It can map your house while navigating but cannot store that information for further use. The i4 is still available for sale on the iRobot website. You can upgrade it to i4+ by buying a Clean Base docking station.

The Lithium Ion battery of the i4+ has a greater capacity of 2,210 mAh. Because of the higher capacity, it also takes more time to charge. It will take around 3 hours. Whereas the i7+ has a battery of the same composition but a lesser capacity of 1,800 mAh. It charges in 2 hours.

There’s also a significant difference in their runtime. The i4+, with its 100 minutes of runtime, is more capable of cleaning your house for less number of charges. The other model can run for 75 minutes, which is great if you have a small house.

The i7+ gives a better battery performance with an extra battery capacity of 400 mAh than the i4+.

The i4+ did not have the smart mapping feature earlier. But according to an update from iRobot (dated January 2022), it is capable of smart mapping. Both models will also map your house and store the data for further use.

Both vacuums have cliff sensors that prevent them from falling down the stairs. But the iAdapt 3.0 Navigation system in i7+ sets the two apart. This makes it better capable of navigation and obstacle detection.

What is the use of a virtual wall?

Both models are adaptable with virtual wall barriers that divert your vacuum from spots it should avoid. The i7+ mobile app also allows you to create virtual no-go zones on the app. But this feature is not available with i4+.

Considering that the i7+ uses a more advanced navigation system than the i4+ and has better map features, it is the better choice.

Roomba i4+ and i7+ similarities

Both models have similar designs, shapes, and sizes. They even have the same dustbin capacity. Since both models have an auto-emptying bin, you don’t have to worry about taking out the debris for weeks.

These models perform really well on carpets as well as hard floors. Their 3-Stage cleaning system ensures no spot is left uncleaned. Even the dirt detection technology in these models is worth appreciating. They will detect even minute particles and suction them into the bin.

The Roomba i4+ gives a better battery performance. But it has an outdated navigation system. The latter’s iAdapt 3.0 navigation system surpasses the i4+. You will also notice that the mapping system of i7+ is more advanced and offers more features.

Considering everything, we recommend going for the i7+ as it is an upgraded version available at a minute difference in price.
