Roborock s6 MaxV vs. Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8 – Differences

Last updated on February 15th, 2024

There’s an entire range of high-end vacuums out there. But a few make their mark more than the others. The Roborock s6 MaxV and Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8 are two of these. Each has its own standout features that the other lacks.

But what’s the final verdict? Which one is better? Let’s find out if the Deebot’s compatibility with the self-emptying dock alone will be sufficient to make it stand against the Roborock.

Which is better: Roborock s6 MaxV vs. Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8?

The Roborock s6 MaxV is the better smart robot as it has a denser main brush that agitates dust more effectively and a rubber side brush that doesn’t get tangled in hair often. These, combined with the 2500 Pa suction power, give good cleaning performance on carpets as well as hard floors. The mopping attachment is also better at taking out dried stains.

Roborock s6 MaxV vs. Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8 Comparison

Price comparison of both vacuums

You must have noticed that we have given a similar price for both models in our specifications table. But it is important that you know the whole truth. Roborock has currently discontinued selling the s6 MaxV because its new s7 series has come out.

So, the only s6 MAxVs you can currently buy are refurbished models. These refurbished models will cost you around $400 dollars on Amazon.

But Ecovacs is selling the Deebot Ozmo T8 on its official website for $400.99. These are completely new models and thus can be relied on to have a long life. You can even find refurbished models of the Ozmo T8 on websites like eBay, but we recommend you buy a new one.

Both vacuums can be purchased for almost the same price, but you can only get refurbished Roborocks. It is always better to buy new models. But we suggest you go through all the specs below before deciding which one to buy.

Which one has a better design?

Both Roborock and Deebot have almost similar designs. There’s a noticeable LiDAR sensor coming out from their top. Truth be told, this sensor hinders the vacuum’s ability to go in tight spaces like under the sofa. The Ozmo T8 is a bit smaller than the s6 MaxV, so it can go between the chair legs more easily.

The major difference in their design lies in the underside of the two vacuums. The Roborock has a denser main brush than the T8. This creates more agitation of dust. It also has a single 5-pronged side brush made of rubber. So less hair gets tangled in it.

The Deebot has dual 3-pronged side brushes with bristles. This not only catches more hair but also scatters around more debris. This makes it difficult for the vacuum to pick up all the dust.

Design-wise, both are similar from the top, but the Roborock s6 MaxV’s denser main brush and 5-pronged rubber side brush aid in better cleaning performance.

Who has a better dustbin capacity?

The Roborock s6 MaxV has the better dustbin capacity of the two. The difference is not much, but it still makes a difference. The 0.46 L dustbin of Roborock can store more debris than the 0.42 L dustbin of the Deebot.

There’s another vital difference between the dustbins of these vacuums. The dustbin of Ecovacs has a mesh and foam layer protecting the HEPA filter from direct exposure to dust, so it will not get soiled easily. This extra layer, not present in the s6 MaxV, increases the life of the filter.

Note: The Deebot Ozmo T8 is compatible with a self-emptying dock, but you will have to buy it separately.

The Roborock s6 MaxV has a larger dustbin, so you will need to empty it less frequently than the Deebot.

Which robot navigates better?

Obstacle avoidance technology comparison
Obstacle avoidance technology comparison

It’s really hard to tell which one navigates better as both have their own advantages. The Roborock is bad with small objects like cords and shoelaces, but Deebot’s TrueDetect technology helps it avoid small objects effectively.

On the other hand, the Roborock is better at avoiding large obstacles due to its ReactiveAI 2.0 Obstacle Avoidance. They can easily find an alternative path around them. The same can’t be said for the Deebot.

Unfortunately, neither is good at avoiding pet poop. If your pets tend to create such a mess, you are better off getting the Roomba j7+ which guarantees it will not run over pet poop ever.

Both can create a well-structured map of your home at almost the same time. You can create labeled rooms and set up boundaries that the bots cannot pass through.

If you are buying this for your office, where there are a lot of wires around, you are better off with the Deebot Ozmo T8. But at home, the Roborock s6 MaxV will avoid most of the objects lying around, like toys, books, pillows, etc.

Who cleans better?

The Roborock s6 MaxV is better at cleaning as it runs at least 3 times over a particular region, while the Ozmo T8 only runs twice. Its higher suction power helps it for deep carpet cleaning. Not only that, but it also cleans dried stains better. Even though the T8 has a vibrating mop, it is not able to get out certain dried stains that the s6 MaxV can.

The two side brushes of T8 scatter dust around a lot, which the bot later fails to pick up. But these dual side brushes come in handy for cleaning the corners. No scattering issue is reported for the s6.

As the Roborock s6 MaxV is better on carpets, can get dried stains out more easily, and doesn’t scatter much debris, it is the better option of the two.

Can you monitor the live feed from the camera?

Monitoring the live feed from the camera

Yes, both Ecovacs and Roborock let you monitor your home through the onboard camera. You can even control the robot manually to explore different locations in your home. It will come to good use when you are not home and you want to check on something or someone, like your furry friend.

The Ozmo T8 takes it a step further and also lets you send voice messages from the app. Your audio will be played out loud on the bot. It’s a great way to make your pets feel like you are around when you are not home.

If you are concerned about your privacy and don’t like the thought of a cam continuously monitoring your home, then you can permanently install a camera cover. The Deebot provides one, but you will have to do it separately for the Roborock.

Roborock s6 MaxV and Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8 Advantages

Both these models are no doubt great cleaners at a really cheap price. It’s hard to get a good mopping plus vacuuming robot at such low prices. But these two have made their mark.

We are inclined to side with the Roborock s6 MaxV because of its better cleaning performance and ability to avoid large obstacles effectively. Of course, the Deebot Ozmo T8 is better at tackling small obstacles and has a great audio feature. But the audio feature is not going to clean our homes.

Considering both are in the same price range, we would opt for a bot that gives better cleaning performance. After all, it should do the work that it is primarily designed for. The extra add-ons are just a few features to make our lifestyle more comfortable.

Is the Roborock s6 MaxV loud?

No, the Roborock s6 MaxV is not that loud. It only creates 65 dB of noise, which is equivalent to the noise created by a ceiling fan.

Does Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8 have a self-emptying feature?

The Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8 is compatible with an automatic dirt disposal docking station, but that docking station is not available with it. You will have to either get the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8+ or buy a self-emptying dock separately. That will cost you a few hundred bucks.

Is Ecovacs better than Roborock?

No, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8 is not better than the Roborock s6 MaxV because the latter gives a better cleaning performance.
