Our OKP Life K2 review in 2024

The OKP Life K2 is available at a much lower price in 2024 than it did before. Its dustbin capacity is pretty large, which doesn’t need frequent emptying. With its compact design, it reaches regions that even many high-ended vacuums cannot reach. It gives a decent performance on hard floors, so we recommend it if you don’t have many carpets.

How do you do the OKP Life K2 setup?

Just like any other vacuum, the first thing you have to do is charge it. To do so, align the robot with the charging dock and turn on the power. Till it charges, locate the QR code inside the top lid and scan and download the OKP app. Once connected and the vacuum is fully charged, turn on the power switch, which is located inside the top lid. And you are all set.

Note: Now, some users have had issues connecting the robot with this app. If you face the same issue, download a universal mobile app like eWeLink and connect your K2 to it.

Features of the vacuum robot

Let’s discuss the features of this robot in detail.

  • The OKP Life K2 has a bright blue-colored circular body. It has a top lid, which most vacuums don’t have. The power switch and dustbin are located inside the top lid.
  • On the bottom, it has two side brushes on either side. But the most unique part is the absence of the main brush. In place of the main brush, you will find a gaping suction hole. The aim was to prevent the vacuum from getting stuck in carpets due to the main brush.
  • On the front, it has a large IR panel where a bumper is usually situated. The panel replaces the bumper and prevents it from bumping into your furniture. Practically, it does bump into the furniture every now and then.

Battery performance

Battery Performance

The OKP Life K2 has an 1800 mAh Lithium Ion battery. It takes around 2 hours to completely charge. The vacuum has a recharge and resume feature, due to which it automatically goes to the charging dock when low on power. It will also resume cleaning once done charging. This feature is generally not available in this price range.

This robot gives a runtime between 50 to 100 minutes, depending on which suction level you are using it on.

  • Low suction level – 100 mins
  • Mid-suction level – 50 to 70 minutes
  • High-suction level – 30 to 50 minutes

This vacuum has a centrally placed dustbin with a holding capacity of 0.5 L. Many robots in this range have smaller dustbins. Considering that this is a small-sized vacuum, it has a remarkable dustbin capacity. The dustbin is placed inside the top lid.

You can easily take it out and empty its contents into your garbage bin. Use the provided cleaning brush to remove any debris that is stuck inside the dustbin.

The OKP Life K2 uses anti-collision IR sensors and gyro sensors for navigation. These sensors aid the robot in navigating around your furniture and stop it from bumping into walls and furniture. Unlike other vacuums that have a gyroscope, this cannot create a map of your home.

It is also equipped with cliff sensors under the Anti-Drop Technology. This tech prevents the K2 from falling off the stairs. The Life K2 navigates randomly in Z-shaped lines unless you use a specific cleaning mode.

Cleaning modes of the robot

Cleaning modes of OPK Life K2
Cleaning modes of the robot

This vacuum has 4 cleaning modes:

1. Auto

In auto mode, the vacuum travels in a neat pattern around your house. It tries to cover the maximum region possible. But it tends to miss a spot or two. That’s where the spot mode comes into the picture.

2. Spot

The areas that auto mode misses can be cleaned with the spot mode. You have to pick up your vacuum and keep it in the region that needs cleaning. It will move in a spiral fashion around the spot and do targeted cleaning.

3. Edge

As the name suggests, the vacuum cleans only the edges in this mode. It will move only around walls and pick up debris from nooks and corners. It does consume more power in this mode, which is a downside.

4. Manual

In this mode, you have to manually give directions to the vacuum with either the physical remote or the mobile app. It’s exactly like you move a character in a video game.

There’s an 1800 Pa suction power on this vacuum, but it is not sufficient for deep cleaning. Several vacuums like Roomba 675 have a lower suction power but still perform better cleaning. This is because of the absence of the main brush in K2. There’s nothing to lift the dust off the surface; hence, cleaning is inefficient. It does increase the suction power on encountering carpets, but it’s not enough.

How to operate the OKP Life K2?

There are 3 ways in which you can operate this robot.

  • With the provided physical remote
  • By giving voice prompts
  • With an OKP Life K2 app

The remote has a power button, buttons for different cleaning modes, and 4 directional buttons for manual navigation. You can connect your K2 with Google Home or Amazon Alexa and give voice prompts for cleaning.

Lastly, you have the mobile app. It also acts like a physical remote, but you can use it from any location. The app has features like scheduling cleaning cycles, different cleaning modes, etc.

Pro and Cons

Large dustbin capacityNot good on carpets
Pros and Cons of OKP Life K2

The OKP Life K2 is a decent vacuum cleaner. But we have seen better ones in this price range. No doubt, it has a good IR panel unique to the OKP. The recharge and resume feature is also a great add-on. We even find the navigation not that bad. But it does a really poor job with carpets.

People appreciate their vacuum not getting stuck because of the main brush. But what’s the use if it is sacrificing the cleaning performance? We suggest you wait till the price drops more if you really want to get this one.

Can I connect my OKP vacuum to Alexa?

Yes, you can connect your OKP vacuum to Alexa by connecting your vacuum app to Alexa.

Is OKP Life K2 a Chinese vacuum?

Yes, OKP Life K2 is a Chinese vacuum, as its parent company OKP is based in China.
