Ways to cancel Roomba schedule

There are different ways in which you can cancel your Roomba’s schedule. In the older models, which did not have Wi-Fi connectivity, you have to use the buttons on the bot to cancel a schedule. For all other models, you can use the iRobot Home app. But if you don’t want to use the app, you can use the buttons on new models to stop a schedule.

With robot buttons

To cancel a Roomba’s schedule using the robot’s buttons, follow the steps given below.

Step 1: Press the Schedule button on your Roomba. You can now access the scheduling menu, where you can view and manage the scheduled cleaning times.

Step 2: Press the Day button to cycle through the scheduled cleaning times one by one.

Step 3: Keep pressing the Day button until you find the schedule you want to cancel.

Step 4: Once you reach the schedule you want to remove, then press and hold the Day button for five seconds.

This will cancel that specific schedule. A beeping sound from your Roomba will confirm that the schedule has been deleted.

Note: This method is only applicable to the old Roomba models, as the new Roomba models don’t include these buttons.

From iRobot app

If you are wondering how to delete Roomba schedule on the app, then there are three ways in which you can cancel your Roomba’s schedule from the iRobot Home App:

Temporarily disable a schedule

Go to the Schedule tab on the iRobot Home App. There, you will find a list of all your schedules. There’s a toggle switch on the right-hand side of every schedule card.

  • Click on the toggle switch to cancel that schedule temporarily. This will turn off the schedule.
  • To use it for the next time, click on the toggle switch again. This will turn the schedule back on.

Delete a previously saved schedule

To delete a previously saved schedule, follow the steps given below.

Step 1: Go to the Schedule tab on your iRobot App.

Step 2: Locate the schedule you want to cancel from the list of schedules.

Step 3: Click on the pencil icon on the top left corner of that particular schedule card.

Step 4: You will be directed to an edit page.

Step 5: On this page, scroll to the bottom of the page.

Step 6: Click on the delete button at the bottom. This will delete the schedule entirely.

Use Do Not Disturb mode

In the Schedule menu, you will find a Do Not Disturb (DND) tab. By enabling this mode, your Roomba

  • Won’t run any schedules
  • Won’t respond to any automation like IFTTT
  • Won’t start the self-emptying function
  • Won’t make any sort of noise
  • Won’t send any Alexa voice announcements or Google Assistant notifications

Note: These methods (using the app) will not work with models that don’t have Wi-Fi connectivity.

By stopping the ongoing cycle

If you forgot to cancel your Roomba’s schedule but remembered immediately after the Roomba started cleaning, then you can stop the cycle at the very instance. Stopping the cycle will command the Roomba to discontinue the schedule for that particular cycle, and it will stop cleaning.

  • To stop a cycle, press the Clean button on your bot for 3 to 5 seconds and release (or tap on the Clean button if you are using the app). All indicator lights will be turned off.
  • Then, send your vacuum back to the docking station by pressing the Dock button on the robot (or tapping the Dock button if you are using the app).

Caution: Don’t press the clean button on the robot for long, as it will reboot the entire system of your Roomba.

Tips for selecting the right cancellation method

All the above methods are solid ways of canceling your Roomba schedule. But which one would you prefer? It really depends on what your ultimate goal is.

Buttons method

This method is primarily for the old Roomba models. You can not use this method on the newer models because they don’t have Schedule and Clean buttons. The buttons on these models can only stop a cleaning cycle once it has started.

Stopping an ongoing Roomba cycle

This feature is useful for the times when you forget to cancel your schedule and your Roomba has started the cleaning cycle. It is also done with the help of Clean and Dock buttons. For Roomba models without Wi-Fi connectivity, it is done via the buttons while for others, it can be done using the app as well as the buttons.

DND mode

The iRobot Home app allows great flexibility for canceling a schedule. If you have something important going on and don’t want to be disturbed by your Roomba in whatsoever way, the DND mode is the best option. Please note that it will completely kill all interruptions from the vacuum for the time being.

Disabling a schedule using the app (Temporary/Permanent)

If you don’t want to clean your house for a particular day/time, you can simply temporarily disable the schedule. For completely eliminating a specific schedule because you had a change in your working hours, you can opt to permanently delete a schedule. It all really comes down to your choice.

Conclusion

There are several ways in which you can cancel a Roomba’s schedule. We have listed all of those in this article. Pick one that you feel is most convenient. If you have a WiFi-enabled vacuum then we suggest you use the iRobot Home app for best results. That way you won’t have to physically be near the robot to cancel the schedule.
