In this article, we will tell you how to change the battery of Roomba. The process is different for each series, but don’t worry; we have covered all of them. Most importantly, you will need a screwdriver to remove the screws on your robot.

The basic procedure to change the battery of Roomba includes the following:

Roomba 500 and 600 series battery change

The below procedure is applicable for the 500 and 600 series.

Step 1: Turn your vacuum upside down.

Step 2: Remove the side brush using a screwdriver.

Step 3: Next, locate the four screws that secure the bottom cover of the robot. Two are below each wheel, and two are on either side of the caster wheel.

Step 4: Loosen all these screws one by one with a screwdriver.

Step 5: Take off the bottom cover.

Step 6: You can now see the battery. Hold the two battery tabs and pull them to remove the installed piece.

Step 7: Place a new battery in its position with the iRobot logo facing upwards.

Step 8: Place the bottom cover back and tighten all four screws. Make sure the cover is properly placed over all the sensors.

Step 9: Attach the side brush back with the help of a screwdriver.

Roomba 700, 800, and 900 series battery change

The batteries of the 700, 800, and 900 series models can be changed by following the same procedure. It is entirely different from the process of the 600 series.

Step 1: Turn the vacuum upside down.

Step 2: Locate the battery door below the caster wheel.

Step 3: There are two screws on this door. Unscrew them with the help of a screwdriver.

Step 4: Take off the door.

Step 5: Remove the installed battery by pulling on the battery tabs.

Step 6: Place a new battery in its place and ensure that the iRobot logo is facing toward you.

Step 7: Place back the door and tighten the two screws.

Roomba e, i, and j series battery change

Step 1: Turn your vacuum upside down and place it on a flat surface.

Step 2: Remove the side brush with the help of a screwdriver.

Step 3: Locate 5 screws on the base that hold the base cover in place. Two are located just below the caster wheel, two on the outer sides of the main wheels, and one on the side of the dustbin.

Step 4: Loosen all these screws with a screwdriver and lift the base cover-up.

Step 5: There’s a release tab holding the battery in place. Press that tab to release the battery.

Step 6: Take the old one out and place a new one inside by aligning the channels of the robot with the channels of the battery.

Step 7: Press the battery in until you hear a clicking sound.

Step 8: Place the base cover back and tighten all the screws. Ensure properly aligned so no sensors are blocked.

Step 9: Lastly, put the side brush back in its position with a screwdriver.

The s series has a different battery placement than all the rest of the Roomba series. It is placed on the edge of the vacuum. It is also fixed into its place with a screw, which you have to remove with a screwdriver before taking out the battery. Read the rest of the procedure below.

Step 1: Place the vacuum upside down on a flat surface.

Step 2: On the base, locate the 6 screws that hold the bottom plate. One screw is beside the caster wheel, one on top of each main wheel, and three just above the brush assembly.

Step 3: Remove each of these screws one by one with the help of a screwdriver.

Step 4: Lift off the bottom cover to reveal the battery.

Step 5: The battery is secured with a screw on its side. Loosen the screw and lift the battery up smoothly using the battery tabs.

Step 6: Place a new one in the well. Don’t forget to secure it with a screw on the side.

Step 7: Replace the bottom plate and tighten all of the 6 screws in place. Make sure all the sensors are properly exposed.
