Now, let’s dig a bit deeper into each of these vacuums so you can decide how they will attend to your home’s cleaning needs.

Roomba i3+ Evo

Ratings: 4.2/5 (Based on 16,801 user reviews)

Release year: 2020

Dimensions: 13.26 x 13.26 x 3.63 inches

Run time: 90 mins

Dustbin capacity: 0.3 L

Why Roomba i3+ Evo?

The Roomba i3+ Evo has the perfect combination of features you would expect in a robot vacuum.

  • It has a really good navigation system. We have hardly seen it leave unclean spots like the old Roomba 890.
  • With the mapping upgrade, it performs significantly better than before. The Roomba i3 used to take at least half an hour more to cover the same area than Evo.
  • The i3+ Evo detects walls and spaces where it cannot fit and avoids going into those particular areas. So, no more hunting down the robot to look where it has got stuck.
  • Although it does not have a proper obstacle detection. It often gets tangled in small objects and wires if it encounters any. We just like to put away such objects before letting the vacuum out to clean.

The thing we love most is its exceptionally good battery life. In spite of having a mere 1,800 mAh battery, it can run for up to 90 minutes. Whereas the Roomba i7, which uses the same battery, gives just 75 mins of runtime.

It covers more area than other vacuums on a single charge, all while giving a really good cleaning performance.

We just think it would be good to have a bit larger dustbin. Even with the self-emptying base, a 0.3 L dustbin seems to be small. If you have pets who shed a lot, you’ll find this bin fills up a lot faster than you would expect. But all in all, it’s a really good robot vacuum.

What users say:

  • “The iRobot i3+ Evo exceeded my expectations in terms of efficiency and convenience.”
  • “Not only does it make life much easier, but if there is a problem with the vacuum cleaner, it very simply explains how to fix it. Almost everything is easy to take apart. I would get this vacuum over a traditional one instead.”

Pros and Cons

PROS

  • Mid-range price
  • Gives good runtime
  • Good with low and mid-pile carpets

CONS

  • Cannot set no-go zones
  • Struggles with obstacle avoidance
  • Small dustbin capacity

Roborock Q5+

Ratings: 4.5/5 (Based on 5,133 user reviews)

Release year: 2022

Dimensions: 13.77 x 13.77 x 3.79 inches

Run time: 180 mins

Dustbin capacity: 0.47 L

Why Roborock Q5+?

The Roborock Q5+ was our top choice of robot vacuum for hard floors because of

  • Its high suction power of 6000 Pa
  • Good run time of up to 180 minutes on a single charge
  • Ability to cover a significant area in one recharge
  • PreciSense LiDAR navigation for excellent maneuvering around obstacles.

All of this added up to the Q5+ being an excellent choice. Its self-emptying capacity gives you a hands-free cleaning experience. There’s no mopping attachment, but it is difficult to get for this price.

Its cleaning performance is note-worthy. The effectiveness of this vacuum can be easily judged by the amount of pet hairs it can suck in one go.

We love the way it avoids large obstacles effectively. Although, we have had instances of wires getting stuck in the bristled brush. It can get tricky to sort that out. But simply picking up small objects before you start cleaning can do the trick.

What users say:

  • “I have a single-floor apartment, ~750sq ft, and three cats. Compared to my old one, this one is PICKING UP some stuff. The carpet work is solid. I have a very low pile rug that it handles effortlessly.”
  • “This is a remarkable piece of technology. It has minor flaws, but the positive attributes are overwhelming.”

Pros and Cons

PROS

  • High suction power
  • Good battery life
  • ScratchSafe wheels and brushes
  • Carpet Boost Technology

CONS

  • Cannot avoid small objects
  • No hazard detection feature
  • Long charging time

Roomba s9+

Ratings: 3.7/5 (Based on 5,980 user reviews)

Release year: 2019

Dimensions: 12.25 x 12.25 x 3.5 inches

Run time: 50 to 120 minutes

Dustbin capacity: 0.5 L

Why Roomba s9+?

The Roomba s9+ stands out because of its elegant design. The copper color makes it look better than most decent vacuums. But pretty looks aren’t the only good thing about the S9+.

  • Its unique D shape enables it to accommodate longer brush rolls. These allow the vacuum to cover more area.
  • Its rubber extractors don’t get stuck in carpet fibers as it doesn’t have bristles like the Samsung Jet Bot+.

You wouldn’t find a better robot vacuum to keep your carpets dust-free. The navigation system is not as good as the Roomba j7, but still, it is efficient.

  • The s9+ maneuvers around all nooks and corners of your house.
  • It can actually get into those hard-to-reach corners because of its unique D shape.

While others like Roborock S8 have high suction power too, they struggle cleaning the corners due to their round shape. It has so high suction power that you get the same performance as an upright vacuum minus the trouble of moving a pipe around your home. Its 40x more suction power than the basic 600 Roomba series makes it a perfect candidate for cleaning your floors.

You would be delighted to get the s9+ if most of your house has carpeted flooring. If you compare the performance of this vacuum on hard floors vs. carpets, it gives the same, if not better, results.

What users say:

  • “Even with thick/dense carpet, Roomba s9+ does as good as a stand-up vacuum.”
  • “Prior to the s9+, robotic vacuums seemed only to dust the surface of the carpet and give a false sense of cleanliness. But s9+ cleans them deeply.”

Pros and Cons

PROS

  • Strong suction power
  • Unique D shape
  • Tackles corners and edges effectively
  • Perfect for all types of carpets

CONS

  • Low runtime
  • Less battery capacity
  • No mopping for such a high price

Roborock S8+

Ratings: 4.4/5 (Based on 3,722 user reviews)

Release year: 2023

Dimensions: 3.9 x 13.8 x 3.8 inches

Run time: 180 mins

Dustbin capacity: 0.35 L

Why Roborock S8+?

The Roborock S8+ is a high-end robot vacuum cleaner that is known for its powerful suction, intelligent navigation, and easy-to-use features. It is also one of the best robot vacuums for pet hair.

Here are some of the reasons why the Roborock S8+ is good for pet hair:

  • It has a powerful suction of 6000 Pa, which is more than enough to pick up even the finest pet hair.
  • The dual-rubber roller brush is designed to prevent pet hair from getting tangled.
  • The automatic dirt disposal system empties the dustbin into the dock, so you don’t have to worry about pet dander releasing back into the air.
  • Its intelligent navigation allows it to map your home and create a custom cleaning schedule that avoids obstacles. You can schedule more cycles during shedding season.
  • It is compatible with voice assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant, so if your pet is around and gets scared of the vacuum, you can immediately shut it off.

What users say:

  • “This vacuum is ABOVE and BEYOND better than most others, and it equals other vacuums that are hundreds of dollars more.”
  • “It’s damn smart. It gets through even the tightest spaces of its own size 10/10 times.”

Pros and Cons

PROS

  • High suction power
  • Good battery capacity
  • Picks up pet hair effectively

CONS

  • Doesn’t do well with high pile carpets
  • Has difficulty maneuvering tight spaces
  • Expensive

Deebot X1 Omni

Ratings: 4/5 (Based on 2,144 user reviews)

Release year: 2022

Dimensions: 13.3 x 13.3 x 3.4 inches

Run time: 75 mins

Dustbin capacity: 0.4 L

Why Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni?

The Ecovacs Deebot X1 has an extensive Filter assembly that no other brand offers. Its 3-layer filter consists of

  • A filter net
  • A sponge
  • A filter element that traps 99.99% of allergens.

You couldn’t expect more from a Robovac filter. It’s based on the higher end of the price spectrum, but we assure you the price tag is worth it. Apart from having the best filtration system, it is also a highly automated piece.

Features we loved most:

  • The self-emptying bin directly empties the contents into the large dirt disposal bag.
  • It has an auto-refilling tank for the mopping attachment.
  • The self-washing ability of this robot – it uses the water stored in the dock to wash the mops after every cleaning cycle.
  • Self-drying mop with a stream of hot air prevents the growth of bacteria due to the dampness of the mop.

What users say:

  • “I have been a loyal customer of high-end iRobot products for ten years, and with this purchase, that has changed.”
  • “The only thing I would change is the battery life. It is a little too short for my home.”

Pros and Cons

PROS

  • Extensive filtration system
  • Self-washing and self-drying mop
  • In-built voice assistant – YIKO
  • Dual side brushes

CONS

  • Short run time
  • Expensive
  • Carpets get a bit damp while mopping

Eufy RoboVac 11S

Ratings: 4.4/5 (Based on 65,522 user reviews)

Release year: 2016

Dimensions: 12.8 x 12.8 x 2.85 inches

Run time: 100 mins

Dustbin capacity: 0.6 L

Why Eufy RoboVac 11S?

Looking for a budget vacuum cleaner? The Eufy RoboVac 11S is perfect for first-time users. It gives you a glance into the world of robot vacuums and sets a baseline for what you can expect. Considering the price, it has some features that even mid-range vacuums don’t have.

  • The huge dustbin has a 0.6 L capacity. Even the Roomba 694 has half the dustbin size than this Eufy. It doesn’t have a self-emptying feature, so you have to empty it manually.
  • It has a very good run time. At 2,600 mAh, a full 100 minutes of cleaning is extremely appreciable for an entry-level robot vacuum. It could vary a bit depending on which mode it’s using.
  • The 11S has two power modes each for carpet and hard floors. The intelligent BoostIQ technology vamps up the suction power when on a carpet. It can go as high as 1300 Pa.

Its navigation system is not that efficient. You can’t expect much at this price. But the brand gives a good build quality – a tempered glass on top to prevent scratches. This being the case, it’s an extremely good starting point for your RoboVac journey.

What users say:

  • “I bought it in July 2019. It is now nearly the end of 2020, and still going STRONG, SMART. SLEEK– no need to replace the battery.”
  • “Straight off the top, this is your basic robotic vacuum without the bells and whistles of the other higher-cost vacuums. What it does well, though, is giving you a basic cleaning job.”

Pros and Cons

PROS

  • Good battery life
  • High suction power
  • Good dustbin capacity

CONS

  • Poor navigation system
  • Slow charging
  • Poor obstacle avoidance

Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra

Ratings: 4.4/5 (Based on 1,915 user reviews)

Release year: 2022

Dimensions: 13.9 x 13.9 x 3.8 inches

Run time: 180 minutes

Dustbin capacity: 0.4 L

Why Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra?

Say hello to a highly automated robot vacuum cleaner. Its extremely high suction power of 5100 Pa is hardly matched by any robot vacuums on the market. That’s why we couldn’t resist putting it into this category.

Apart from this, it has dual cleaning modes, which make it highly desirable. But its high-end price is not for everyone. Be rest assured that it gives value for the extremely high price.

  • It can automatically empty its 0.4 L dustbin in a large bag that can hold up to 30 days’ worth of debris, leaving your hands free for the time.
  • This also has an auto-refilling water tank for the mopping attachment.
  • Not only that, its mop also self-cleans with a slider running across the length of it to remove any debris attached. When it is too worn out – just replace it with a new one.
  • Let’s not forget the 5,200 mAh battery, which gives a runtime of up to 180 minutes on a typical day. Makes it perfectly suitable for large homes and homes with a lot of carpets.
  • Speaking of carpets, the mop lifts itself up a few centimeters when it climbs a carpet or rug just to keep it dry. Smart, isn’t it?

P.S. It has a child lock option, just in case children or pets try to toy with it.

What users say:

  • “The only cons are the price and that it doesn’t come with the heated blower to dry the mop pad.”
  • “The high price tag initially threw me off. However, after one month of usage, the price is unshakeably justifiable. The cleaning power is phenomenal.”

Pros and Cons

PROS

  • Highly automated
  • High suction power
  • High battery capacity
  • Scratch Safe Wheels And Brushes

CONS

  • Longer charging time
  • No scrubbing effect of mop

Deebot T9+

Ratings: 4/5 (Based on 394 user reviews)

Release year: 2021

Dimensions: 13.8 x 13.8 x 3.6 inches

Run time: 175 mins

Dustbin capacity: 0.42 L

Why Ecovacs Deebot T9+?

Ecovacs Deebot T9+ can not only vacuum your floors with its 3000 Pa suction power but also mop them with its mopping attachment. It can vacuum and mop simultaneously as well as separately.

It will detect carpets and avoid them if the mopping attachment is in use so your carpets stay dry. We love how the mop oscillates and creates a scrubbing effect on the floor – it gives way for adamant stains to go away.

The less hassle, the better, and the T9+ gives you exactly that. Its 0.42L dustbin is automatically emptied in its docking station, so you don’t have to. The mopping attachments are also reusable, so simply replace the old one with the new one when you are done.

However, the water tank needs manual refilling. We hoped it could auto refill like the SwitchBot S10, but unfortunately, that feature is lacking.

This made our top choice because of the dual LiDAR navigation systems

  • One protruding from the top
  • One based on the two front-mounted cameras

This makes navigation so better that you can literally leave it to clean around any small obstacles, and it won’t get stuck. That’s like a dream come true for robot vacuum users. And even with the dual cleaning modes and high suction power, it gives a runtime of no less than 175 minutes. That’s far too much than any Roomba can give.

P.S. The most unique part – it sprays room freshener as it cleans. You get to choose between 3 different fragrances pre-installed on the bot. Isn’t that amazing?

What users say:

  • “I upgraded from a Deebot Ozmo T8, and overall, I’m happy enough with the T9+.”
  • “Overall, I am pleased with the performance, which made me reevaluate the rating to 4 stars (maybe 4.5 stars). But some minor annoyance like it uses too much water is blocking it to 5 stars.”

Pros and Cons

PROS

  • Mop creates a scrubbing effect
  • Two LiDAR systems for navigation
  • Large dustbin capacity
  • Good run time
  • Sprays room freshener while cleaning

CONS

  • Very slow charging
  • Doesn’t auto-refill water tank
  • Small water tank capacity

Roomba j7+

Ratings: 4.3/5 (Based on 6,093 user reviews)

Release year: 2021

Dimensions: 13.3 x 13.3 x 3.4 inches

Run time: 100 mins

Dustbin capacity: 0.5 L

Why Roomba j7+?

The best part about the Roomba j7+ is that it detects and avoids pet waste. Most vacuums on this list have somehow rolled over pet poop and caused catastrophic mess. But the j7+ comes with a Pet Owners Official Promise (P.O.O.P). iRobot has put such huge trust in the robot that it has offered a free replacement to any j7+ that has run over solid poop in one year from buying.

We believe the secret lies in this model’s front-facing camera. All other Roombas except the j series have a top-facing camera that can’t see below a certain height. But the j7+ camera can see that area as well. There are several models from Roborock that have a front-mounted camera, but none of them give the same guarantee as the j7+.

  • The camera also allows you to monitor live feeds in your house.
  • It sends you pictures of obstacles it cannot recognize, and you get to tell it what to do about it.

It’s a great way of keeping a lookout on your home when you are away. But with the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8, you can also send voice messages on your robot, which will play out loud.

For more on Roomba j7+, check out our detailed review.

What users say:

  • “It has now been several months since I got the Roomba j7+. I love it, I love it, I love it! The suction is very good, and the machine is surprisingly quiet. Also, I am getting used to it and learning to leave it alone and not follow it around, so I’m much more relaxed about it.”
  • “I’ve owned a lot of iRobot Roombas for the past 20 years, so I consider myself sort of an expert. Also, keep in mind I do not hand out 5-star reviews lightly.”

Pros and Cons

PROS

  • Advanced obstacle detection
  • Pet Owners’ Official Promise
  • Front-facing camera
  • PrecisionVision navigation system

CONS

  • Less suction power
  • Low runtime
  • Expensive

Shark IQ Robot XL RV1001AE

Ratings: 4.3/5 (Based on 28,458 user reviews)

Release year: 2022

Dimensions: 12.90 x 12.59 x 3.50 inches

Run time: 95 mins

Dustbin capacity: 0.16 L

Why Shark IQ Robot XL RV1001AE?

It’s surprising how fast we run through dirt disposal bags for self-emptying vacuums. Mind you, those don’t come that cheap. So it becomes irritating when you run out of them quicker. But not with the Shark IQ Robot XL RV1001AE. Because it’s a bagless robot vacuum.

  • The dustbin gets emptied into an even larger dustbin in the docking station.
  • It can store 30 to 45 days’ worth of debris.
  • To empty this bin, simply hold it over your dustbin and press the empty button. The bottom opens up and empties all its contents. Say bye to dustbin bags!

Apart from this, the vacuum itself is a good cleaner. The dual-side brushes do an excellent job of pushing the debris towards the center. We particularly appreciate the design of its main brush. Those blade-shaped rubber extractors surprisingly don’t let anything get tangled around them.

The downside is the small dustbin on the robot. You get much more than a 0.16 L dustbin at this price. On the other hand, it has a really good battery life of 95 minutes. Almost as good as the Roomba i3+.

It covers more than 1,000 square feet area in a single charge, which is a great speed for a robot vacuum. Its navigation is also not that bad. It cleans in straight lines along the mop until it covers the entire area on its map.

One thing that concerns us is its blocking mechanism. It still only responds to magnetic tapes for blocking off areas. We would prefer something more sophisticated, like virtual wall barriers or in-app no-go zones.

What users say:

  • “It literally cleans about 95% of your floors. Hair is not a problem, tangling on the roller is not a problem, larger debris is generally not a problem.”
  • “Cleans well enough. It doesn’t seem to miss spots on the ‘normal’ run setting. The brush doesn’t get tangled in the thick pile of my living room rug.”

Pros and Cons

PROS

  • Bagless dustbin
  • Two side brushes
  • Good battery life

CONS

  • Small dustbin
  • Only responds to magnetic blocking tapes
  • Fewer customization options for the app

DreameBot gives the best value for money

Ratings: 4.3/5 (Based on 605 user reviews)

Release year: 2022

Dimensions: 13.74 x 13.77 x 3.79 inches

Run time: 170 mins

Dustbin capacity: 0.4 L

Why Dreametech DreameBot D10 Plus?

The DreameBot D10 Plus stands out as an exceptional vacuum cleaner for several compelling reasons.

Advanced mapping capabilities:

It creates a map of your home and offers customized room-by-room cleaning so you can target specific areas that require the most attention. You can establish no-go zones and save up to 3 maps.

Dual cleaning modes: Getting the vacuum with a mopping attachment at this price is quite rare. Plus, it also comes with a self-emptying bin.

Simple setup process: Who wouldn’t want a hassle-free setup experience with the robot and the Mi Home app?

There are four vacuuming modes: Quiet, Standard, Strong, and Turbo, each with varying suction power, with the cap being 4000 Pa.

While it may lack some of the advanced features found in high-end models, it still delivers as good performance as them. It would be a waste not to choose this model as it has the most features you could ask for.

What users say:

  • “On my first floor, it’s all hardwood and tile with just rugs. It had no problem covering about 2,000 ft².”
  • “We have owned several different robovacs over the years, and this, by far, has the most powerful suction. We have tile floors with thin throw rugs, and this unit does a great job, especially getting up all the dog hair.”

Pros and Cons

PROS

  • Good navigation system
  • Excellent run time
  • Good dustbin capacity
  • Multiple power modes

CONS

  • Small water tank
  • Struggles with small objects
  • No automation features

Best robot vacuum cleaners buying advice

Before choosing the best robot vacuum cleaners, consider the following factors carefully:

Your needs and budget: Determine where you want to use the vacuum and how often. Also, calculate how much you can spare for the buy. You can go for the Rufy RoboVac 11S if you have a low budget.

Your home’s layout: Do you have a lot of furniture? Are there any areas that are difficult to reach? Then, you should get a vacuum with excellent navigation capabilities. We would suggest going for one with a LiDAR system.

Suction power: This is important if you have pets or a lot of dirt and debris. Also, for homes with a lot of carpeting, high suction power is extremely necessary. In such a case, you can opt for one of the Roborock vacuums, like the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra, as they have high suction power.

Mapping technology: Mapping allows for more effective cleaning. If this is your first time with a Robovac, you can go for no mapping. But we recommend getting it.

Obstacle avoidance: For households with children and pets that scatter around a lot many things, obstacle avoidance is absolutely necessary. There’s no better robot than the Roomba j7+ for avoiding obstacles.

Self-emptying dustbin: This is a convenient feature that saves you time and energy. Just take out the large bag when it’s full, and you don’t have to think of it for weeks. All the vacuums with a ‘+’ in their name come with a self-emptying base just like the Roborock Q5+.

Wi-Fi connectivity: This allows you to start and stop cleaning, set schedules, and check the vacuum’s status with your mobile phone. Without Wi-Fi connectivity, you have to operate your robot with the buttons on its body.
